After spending the last 21 years in the NBA, James currently sits at 39,960 career points and is on track to surpass the 40,000 mark. The 39-year-old is 40 points shy of this once-in-a-lifetime achievement and is on track to break the record this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This 2023-24 season, James has averaged 25.6 points per game, so if the legendary player continues playing in the same manner, he should be able to hit 40,000 career points on Saturday\u2019s game against the Denver Nuggets, if he won’t score 40 against the Wizards tonight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Philadelphia Warriors legendary star Wilt Chamberlain scored an NBA high of 100 points in a single game on March 2, 1962. The Warriors clinched a 169-147 win against the New York Knicks with the help of Chamberlain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time, the NBA had yet to establish a 3-point line as it would come into play in 1979, making this record even more impressive as the Warriors legend accomplished this feat solely through 2-point shots. The closest a player has come to breaking Chamberlain’s record was the late Kobe Bryant, who scored 81 points for the Lakers against the Raptors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
